Save Energy

sfondo

The energy saving, the reduction of power consumpion and the possibility to avoid waste are subjects of growing interest to which everybody pays an ever increasing attention as we are aware that we must do everything possible for the protection of the natural environment we live in and that will be tomorrow the inheritance of our sons.
Digicom shares his know-how to contribute and help his customers in carrying out this important project.

Stand-by or switched off devices, an excessive consumption!
In 2005 a study of the European Commission stated that the power consumption of devices in standby conditions or connected to the power line but not powered on is about 47 TWh with a correspondent quantity of 19 million tons of CO2 emissions in the atmosphere. Without any reduction within 2020 we are going to increase this value to 49 TWh.

Just think of how many devices or household appliances (TV, Hi-Fi, computer, etc.) we leave in standby condition for the most of the day/night. Each of them can consume even up to 10W. If we multiply this consumption for the number of people living in a nation or in the whole European community, we realize how many power plants must be involved to supply this “comfort”. Don’t forget the power supplies and the battery chargers connected to the power plugs that also play their role.
These worrying data started the creation of a set of rules to determine a substantial reduction of these consumptions and of the waste caused by them. The target of these restrictive regulations is to reach an effective energy saving with less consumption, less waste and a cost reduction on the electricity bill besides the advantages on the environment due to the decrease of CO2 emissions.

Digicom Green Era on Consumer Electronics SOHO Networking
Ever since 2008 Digicom started introducing some products with 'Green' functionality, and in the second half of 2009 it completed the correction to the 2005/32/CE European Regulation concerning the Energy saving and the products efficiency. 6 months before the official date (April 2010) Digicom supplied his customers with Networking products equipped with 'Green' power supplies complying with the new regulations.
These ‘new concept’ power supplies have been designed for a low consumption (no more than 0,5W) when the device is switched off (the limit will decrease to 0,3W in 2011) and to offer the maximum performances during its standard operation.

Go the Green way, save the environment!
Digicom has always been and will be at the front line in supporting this worldwide strategy with products that comply with the regulations for a safeguard of the environments and a cost reduction.
Use 'Green' products, save the environment and save money!
Look for the 'Green' logo when buying!

Depending on the technical features, functionalities or equipments Digicom Green products are identified with the following logos:

GREEN
These products are equipped with power supplies complying with the new regulation for the energy saving.
This equipment will be a standard for all our networking products subject to 2005/32/CE European Regulation starting April 2010.

GREEN CPU
Native functions in the products hardware or firmware that reduce the consumption actively basing on the operating conditions, the number of users connected, the traffic volume, the length of Ethernet cables or the necessary transmission power (i.e. Green Ethernet Gigabit Switches).

GREEN ECO-DESIGN
Devices and products with an 'Eco-friendly' design projected to reduce the power consumption through:

  • ON/OFF switch on the device
  • the use of recycling/recycled components and materials or coming from productions obtained with clean energy or from renewable energy sources
  • the use of little quantities of plastic, paper and packaging with a saving both in production and disposal
  • products with smaller size and weight that require smaller quantities of fuel for transportation
